A few months back, I wrote about my bout with gluttony. After getting that one under control, I’ve been on the straight and narrow. That was until today when I jumped into the sloth pool.
Winter vacation started a week ago. Between family in town, Christmas, traveling, and other general busyness, I didn’t feel like I was on vacation one bit. Then two days ago, I came down with a brutal head cold. Casino air/smoke and a cold don’t mix well. I came home yesterday, took a giant swig of Nyquil, and slept.
And slept. My alarm was set this morning for 8 am because I had people coming to do some work on my house. When the alarm went off, I sleepily checked my phone and had a text saying they weren’t coming until tomorrow. That was the beginning of the end for me. The bed called me back, and I went, still in a Nyquil coma.
The remainder of the day was spent either in bed or on the couch with my new favorite thing (a gift from a student). I had many plans for the day that included errands and around-the-house projects. I also had every intention of getting up and doing those things even with the canceled appointment. Alas, not one thing was accomplished unless you count stuffing Kleenex up my nose and feeding the dog - which did require getting out of bed/off the couch, so I will count that one. Oh, and I also caught up on the final three episodes of Boardwalk Empire, finally! And all I have to say about that was, “OMG!”
This laziness is so out of character for me. Even if I’m just hanging at home I’m still doing something. I never just watch tv or sleep during the day. Today I did both. I even multitasked that a few times. However, I think it did me some good. My sinus headache has retreated, and my leaky faucet of a nose has turned off for the time being. Tomorrow is a new day with people coming over and errands to run, plus lunch and a movie with some friends. I think with another several hours of sleep, I can do it!
Sounds like you are run down. You need a huge pick-me-up.
ReplyDeleteGo get a deep massage from some Hungarian that's unafraid of hurting you. One that is getting at muscles from behind. Then stick a hat on you head, a guard for your back and your rump in a saddle. You are more in need of cleaning corners than the house.
Sympathetic hugs btw I had that shit before Christmas.
I'm with roaring forties--sounds like you need a break!
ReplyDeleteYou need more cozy time...Cleaning and errands can wait.
ReplyDeleteAh, just the thought of you with bedhead and a leaking running nose totally does it for me. Honestly, how is that you stay single?
ReplyDeleteI hope that you feel better soon. And just in time for work too!
Your Friend, m.
Thanks Vince, The massage sounds great, and I know people who have those to get the "sick" beaten out of them. Maybe I'll try it...or maybe I'll just stay in bed a few more hours.
ReplyDelete@Duck - Luckily I've three weeks left of vacation. Sorely needed for sure.
@Banker Chick - OK, then they will wait! :)
ReplyDelete@Mark - You forgot the kleenex dangling from my nose and the drool, lots of sleeping drool. I know! Right?!?! :)
I hope you're feeling better!
ReplyDeleteOh poor thing! I hate being sick on my break! I hope you are feeling better today.
ReplyDeleteI had that nasty headcold thing right after Thanksgiving followed by a yucky cough...hope you skip that part.
Your new blanket...I know why you love it...we just got fleece sheets for Xmas...love 'em too!
Happy New Year...may it get much better :)
Poor Kimmy! Rest up for Friday night sister!
ReplyDeleteYou need this. You have to be like this at least once in a while, otherwise, you'll go to an early grave.
