While cleaning up the office a few weeks ago, I found a blank sketchbook under a pile of papers. It had been issued to me by the
Sketchbook Project. I figured it was the one I had ordered a year or so ago and never got around to working in it. But as it turns out, it 's actually the most current one, 2014-15, and the
one I recently finished was the 2013 book. At first I was disappointed that I worked in the wrong one, but after going on their website I found out I can still turn the old one in AND the new one as well. So I went to work. Over Thanksgiving break and during this past week of winter break, the new one was completed.
I pulled out all the lame paper that comes inside the sketchbooks and rebound it with my favorite watercolor paper. There's always a bit of a struggle to get started in these Project books. I wasn't really sure what the "theme" would be for this one and the first few pages reflect that insecurity. But as it got going, I stopped worrying about it so much and just enjoyed working in it. Anyhow, I'm happy with the finished book...
Sending both sketchbooks in tomorrow!
I look forward to the mobile library making it to LA this year.
This one is less patterned. Different. I like them. They are more to the traditional watercolourist work.
ReplyDeleteAnd I like the lettering, but I find the different styles on the one page a bit jarring, not necessarily bad.
Good lettering practice. :)
DeleteYah, after doing the pattern one, I wanted to change it up a bit. It was fun!
I love it when you share these kinds of projects. I find them so inspiring.
ReplyDeleteOh thank you...I enjoy doing them so much. Back to work tomorrow, and it makes me a little sad that I won't have much time until my next break.
DeleteI hope you noted my restraint in not teasing you royally for being a total girl. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh when I was doing landscape design I had in mind to build something with glass bottles. The problem here and the UK is it would instantly call the client an alcoholic.
Ha ha ha, Why yes I did notice your restraint...until now of course. :)
DeleteI'm not really a tchotchkes type collector, so I had to search for things I had a lot of. I could have done more pages of shoes and bags though! The bottles, which I think are so pretty, I don't even have out anymore because I dislike the clutter. I had to dig most of them out of the back of the cupboards.
You were ahead of your time with the glass bottles. They're now being used as part of walls and decor in those sustainable houses/earthships. Like this... http://unusuallife.com/2008/05/01/building-with-bottles/
Some are eyesores, but some are quite pretty.
Yes, that type of wall. Only a bit more so up here in the damp north.. You'd need more light.
DeleteTchotchke is a word I'd not heard before.
Gaghh. I just watched Clooney go all slobbery over the wife. I'm sorry it's one thing to wax lyrical about the mother of your five kids, but shit, them two aren't married a wet week.
It just seems unwholesome. You might be thinking many things about a new wife or husband but public hero worship isn't one of them. And you have people slightly bemused.
I foresee the term 'irreconciable differences' being used in the LS superior courts. Or perhaps annulment due to, well you get where I'm going.
I didn't watch the awards show, but they've been all over the "news" today.
DeleteYah, it's kind of funny how he's so enamored. Maybe she's the one he's been waiting for, but maybe not. In Hollywood, it's usually not.
The hosts' lead up to his award was kind of fun though

Dammit. I watched that *&^% specially to have something to write when you posted on it. :-)
Delete:). Ha, I love it!
DeleteI don't ever watch the award shows because the awards themselves would take like15 min, at the most. All that other stuff is just used to drag it out and waste time! The inability to refrain from yelling, "Just get on with it!", at the TV, has taught me its best to just read about them the next day and enjoy the synopsis and the highlights. It's much more efficient for my taste. :)
I am working on a movie post though!
nice.. i like the coffee cups and shoes and bags..
ReplyDeleteMy favorite things!!!! ;)
