...And Home

After a week in Vancouver, I have arrived home!  The bags are unpacked, the laundry is in the washer, and I am happily sitting in my own bed (Isn't that always the best part about coming home?). The trip was lovely, but with their UNUSUAL heatwave and several wild fires nearby I have this to say about Vancouver...It's just like LA, only cleaner and the people are nicer.  :)  The 700ish pictures taken are currently downloading.  I look forward to going through them and sharing my favorites.
Home Sweet Home!

  1. Delighted to hear you had a great time. Hmm, I don't think V has that style of heat usually like you do, in fairness :-). I believe maritime temperate rainforest is the geographically technical term. Meaning like Ireland, it could rain even when there wasn't a blooming cloud in the sky as teh timber creates their own clouds. LOTS of Irish in Vancouver, always, but since the recent insanith there's even more. Did you climb Whistler ?.

  2. No, it wasn't as hot as it gets here, but it was hot. We picked it because we figured north would be cooler. In actuality it cooled off here while I was gone, and the heat moved north! :) No, I didn't get to Whistler - in Vancouver for a few days and then took the ferry to Victoria for a couple of days. I sat next to some people on the flight home last night who had gotten to Whistler on Tuesday and it was so smokey due to the wildfires they could hardly see their hand in front of their face. They took yesterday's flight home because it was so bad. It was yellow in Vancouver on the day we left for Victoria. And I was quite surprised at how brown everything was...they haven't had much rain this year either.
Tons of "Irish" bars in downtown, at least in name. We watched the world cup finals in one of them. :)

  3. Welcome home!

I've never visited the Pacific Northwest, but would love to get there someday.

    1. Thank you! It was a nice trip. Now that I'm home though (after 2 weeks of curriculum work and over a week of traveling) I am VERY much looking forward to some down time. It's hard to believe this is the 4th week I've been on break...it hasn't felt like a break. :)
