Saturday 9 - The Last Time

This week's song inspiration is Diana Ross' "Last Time I Saw Him." I'd never heard it before.
1.  In this song, Miss Ross sings of a tender farewell at the bus station. When did you last say goodbye to someone at an airport, dock, train or bus station? The last transportation goodbye was probably my mom who flies in and out of town quite often.
2. Continuing with the theme of "lasts," who received the last gift you gave? My friend Tami and I share the same September birthday.  I sent her gift off to Idaho about a week and a half ago.
3. Who last did you a favor?  Yesterday I woke up to a refrigerator that sounded like it was running in NASCAR.  The appliance repairman couldn't make an appointment after 3:30, which is the time I can be home if I leave RIGHT after school.  He offered 3:20, so my grade level team (colleagues) offered to take my kids at the 3:00 dismissal.  That way I was able to run out to my car and drive home in time for the repairman.  That was a relief, and the icing on the cake was it was an easy fix - only costing me a service call.
4. What's the last thing you dropped or broke?  I ALWAYS spill my coffee when I'm running late for work in the morning.
5. What's the last thing you borrowed or lent?  I can't think of anything off the top of my head, so probably something for work.  Teachers are always sharing materials.  Oh, I just borrowed some library books!
6. When is the last time you danced?  This evening, in the kitchen while heating up leftovers in the microwave.  I get songs in my head, and they inspire me.  :)
7. When were you last nervous?  I get nervous every time a certain presidential candidate says something hateful or asinine and his supporters cheer for him.  There has also been recent reports about how San Andreas Fault is due for another big quake soon.  Earthquake predictions make me nervous too.
8. What was your last DIY project?  I almost decided to refinish a pair of Adirondack chairs that have been sitting on the side of the house for a few years.  Actually, I was initially going to throw them out, and then while looking them over I wondered if I should salvage them.  And then, when I lifted one up and the wood fell off the bolts, my hopes of a DIY were dashed I was relieved.
9. When did you last check your horoscope? Was it accurate?  I don't read horoscopes very often, but I do find they are pretty accurate when I have.  I fall right on the cusp of a Virgo and Libra, but from every thing I've read, I'm definitely a Libra.  These made me chuckle.
This one made me laugh out loud!  I can never decide where to go out to eat.
Happy Saturday!

    1. I used to go out dancing quite often, now I just do it in the house. It's saved a lot of time. ;)

    1. I know that they write those horoscopes to "fit" anyone, but these were pretty spot on as far as I am concerned. :)

  3. They've been predicting another "big one" on the San Andreas fault since 1906. It's a safe prediction because sooner or later there will be one, but so far we're all safe.

    1. Oh, they sure have. But just this week there have been all sorts of reports that we should have one in the near future, like in days. Scientists haven't done "that" before. It seems a bit more specific than the usual "It'll happen sooner or later."

  5. I had to share the Libra wisdom with my younger daughter who is also a Libra. Fits her perfectly!! Belated birthday wishes. :)

From all the things I've read about the fault lines on the west coast, it's the folks to the north of you (Pacific NW) that need to be worried. Earthquake AND tsunami-wise. I remember over a decade ago when all the talk was about the next 'big one' for the New Madrid fault. I was nervous for awhile, but got over it. We can't live in fear! (a tornado is far more likely to get me and I try not to worry about those)

    1. These astrological signs are written, I believe, to match just about anyone. Some things I've read don't fit al all, but these do! :)
They are currently saying that due to earthquake swarms around the Salton Sea (which sits right on the fault) scientists are predicting something here SOON. I agree, you can't spend your time worrying about what could happen, but it's a recent news report which always gets you thinking.

  6. I don't know when I saw a horoscope. But I know a guy back in the day why read his in the daily newspaper(back when we got them) religiously. The one thing I came away with was the writes of those upbeat amalgams of adjectives were geniuses with a pen. Adirondack chairs, never heard of 'em, I had to look them up. They look rather uncomfortable, and I'd say if you were a bit creaky, hell to get in and out of. Plus, if you're that near the ground it's way better to be 'on' it.
The best description of an earthquake fault I ever heard was a zip on a jeans a few sizes too small. It may go the first time you put them on, it may go the 200 time. But sure as, the zip will rip its moorings eventually.

    1. I think they are a bit like psychics - what they say is fairly vague that it can pretty much apply to anyone. You can make a connection with it, regardless of what it says. But they do give me a good chuckle when I see one.
Ha! Yah, adirondack chairs are lower, but I find them very comfortable. You kind of sink into. Mine had footrests too! I can see where they might be difficult if you were creaky, but they're so sturdy (mine weren't anymore but most are) with those big arms to push off from. They look so pretty and summery. All the big box hardware stores have the plastic version of them now in all sorts of colors. The real thing is nicer but the price is quite high. From a distance you can't even tell the difference.

    2. You know something, you could make them. Looking at them they are remarkably simple to assemble. They are one of those designs that just work.
And I'll bet you when they were made for Catskills and resorts on the lakes they could be broken down and stored for winter in seconds and assembled again the next season.
And you are handy with your hands, and they'd make pretty good presents. And you could girl them up or go celtic and sell them at that Celtic knees-up you have. Sculls across the back board for the bikers that like a mint julep :-D.
Nor would you need much by way of extra tools over what you have for you could get the cedar wood supplier to cut to size.

  7. Earthquake predictions would certainly make me nervous. That hurricane coming up the east coast is currently on my list of things to be nervous about.
