As I get ready to head to the airport for a quick trip to Minnesota, I'm remembering what it's like to travel when there's "weather" beyond 80 degrees and sunny.  My flight is expected to get into Minneapolis around 4:00.  Snow is expected at 70% chance today as well.  There's a bit of a nervous pit in my stomach as I start my day about the weather - delays, flight issues, landing - which I have not felt since moving back home 17 years ago after living in New England for 8 years.  There, anytime there was predicted snow, there was always a low grade worry over snow or ice in the forecast.  As much as I enjoyed living back east and the four seasons and even miss it sonetimes, I don't miss that feeling at all.  I've got it now...wish me luck!

PS: In case anyone is wondering, this is a trip of necessity.  I did not decide to travel to one of the coldest places in the US in December for fun.  I'll share more about it in another post.  :)

  1. I'll be thinking about you!! (I'm a weather worrier, too)

Looking forward to hearing the reason behind the trip. You can wave to my son and his GF while you're there. They live in a hi-rise downtown. :)

  2. Ah, the land of the frozen tundra. I did six years there and remember it well. Have a safe trip and we can all read about it upon your return.

  3. Wow, that's awesome Ted. There's a very good theater company up there.
M-St-P is the big city for Montana ND SD as well as Minn. There isn't really anything else up that'a ways is there. I'm assuming it's to Minneapolis.
On the fears of ice. I think they have cleats for the shoes. Stay away from heels outside, so leave the red soles at home :-)

  4. The first time I moved from CA to weather (Ohio), I wouldn't drive in snow and ice as it scared me. I still don't like it but I will do it.

  5. Living in the Tri State area snow is quite normal.. and I love it in theory.. the watch it coat everything.. it's the getting out in a car and attempting to drive in it or get anything done that horrifies me!
Hope you have a decent trip without much delays.

  6. We get so much snow in PA it is not even funny. We had the smallest bit on Saturday morning but it was not enough to cause any delays or accidents. PHEW! : ) I hope your trip is excellent even though it is not a pleasure trip.

  7. Hope you stay safe and warm! My son is getting his first taste of winter in northern IN and I think it's been enough to convince him he does not want to live there long-term! While I enjoy the occasional snowfall, I would not want to deal
    with it consistently.
