After a wonderful (yet rainy) trip to Portugal I returned home late Tuesday night. I always find it funny that even though I enjoy going away, the comforts of home aren’t too bad either. Sleeping in my own bed, not wearing the same three outfits for days on end, cooking instead of eating out, and having all my stuff without living out of a suitcase all make coming home from a long trip nice.
The last couple of days have been spent catching up on sleep, unpacking, catching up on sleep, doing laundry, catching up on sleep, various errands, and catching up on sleep. I think I might have staved off jet lag as I woke up refreshed and energized this morning, although jet lag can hit randomly so it remains to be seen, especially when work comes around on Monday.
Finally getting a chance to catch up on and delete the 500+ emails I had in my inbox and will be making the blog rounds today as well. Since March came and went, it’s also time for The Kathryn Wheel Calendar Challenge. I took the easy way out this month, especially the last week, with just a few doodles and a watercolor wash.
I also wanted to share my finished product for the Inspirational Card Deck Swap hosted by Jessica Brogan at In Search of Dessert.
They were packaged up and sent off to Jessica just before I left on my trip. I’m really good with due dates for work, but for fun not so much. It was an accomplishment getting them done and mailed before the March 29 deadline. I’ll share more about the project at a later time.
Happy April to you!
Your page looks great I really like its simplicity

Thank you Jackie.
DeleteNice to hear you had a good holiday.
ReplyDeleteLove all your little drawings on your art calendar I always mean to do that but never do.
I feel like that's all I ever do. :)
DeleteMarch looks awesome. You're such a creative journaler! And WOW...you've made some fabulous inspiration cards!
ReplyDeleteThank you. The cards were fun...something different.
DeleteLove the simplicity of your page! Love the doodling adds lots of fun to the page!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteGlad you are back safe. I hope you had a good time. Mind you, with your mom in tow. Still she could be the tearaway and you the sensible one.
ReplyDeleteI like this one. It's slim and wry.
I'll have a decko at Brogans place. Those cards seem a huge amount of work.
Oh, definitely the sensible one. All the port houses and wineries made that even more true. Ha! Ha! :) It was fun even though all the rain was a bummer - made for lousy photos and wet shoes.
DeleteAlthough some of the card project was produced in large pieces before cutting down, the individual work on each one took up a bit more time. It sounded like great fun when I was off over winter break. After that, it took up a lot of my weekend time.
Traveling is really your thing, isn't it? : ) I am excited you got to go away. Your project sounds fun. Creative people are my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI do like to travel. It's fun to explore new places. In my next life going abroad will be part of my career. I'll learn to pack better in my next life too. :)
DeleteI hope we hear more about the trip to Portugal. I loved your project. Walmart had yellow (lemon meringue)and green (key lime) marshmallows in the food department. The yellow ones tasted great, so they might have been snacked upon.
ReplyDeleteYa, once I get through all of the pictures I'll post some. I'm not very good at taking pictures in the rain though. So we'll see how they came out. I've downloaded them off my camera onto the computer, but that's as far as I've gotten so far.
DeleteGlad you had a wonderful trip! can't wait to see your photos :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Marey!
DeleteI love the simplicity of the page, with all the lovely washes of color. The cards are beautiful too! Love seeing them all together like that, just so much fun.
ReplyDeleteYou may have taken the easy way out but the colourwash on your page is wonderful as are your doodles. Much more interesting than the little bit of text I always use.
