Saturday was a hot one. When I got up in the morning to take the dog on a walk, it was already over 90 degrees. I had tried to put it off, (which had been fairly easy since it was in the 60s just 4 days before) but it was time to dig out the dead-of-summer clothes, including shorts. The quick change in weather this time of year always leads to shock and horror – whose pasty white legs are those?!?!
After the walk, which I respectfully wore pants as to not blind the neighbors, it was necessary to go back outside, bare legged and get some sun. Of course, by that time it was 105.
I wouldn’t have even bothered in that heat, but the forecast shows those temps into the week – shorts might be a necessary addition to my wardrobe. Luckily, in this case, I’m a burner not a tanner so my time outside was limited to about 15 minutes on each side. In that 30 minutes though, I felt like I was laying out on the actual sun. In fact, while talking on the phone to pass the time, I lost the call to a message that it was too hot for the iPhone to work.
That has only happened one other time…when I left it on the seat of my locked-up car in similar weather.
Today, I spent a few more minutes outside trying to add some color. Instead of being 105, it was almost 110. 110 DEGREES people! I’m almost sure the heat won’t last for too long as June gloom is just around the corner. Regardless though, the first really hot days are just a reminder that summer is going to be long if we’re already getting over 100 in May.
At least I’m partly ready for summer in that I’m no longer translucent.
Jeeeeeeepers. We COOK with less heat.
ReplyDeleteTell me about it. Didn't even drop below 75 last night...miserable.
DeleteOh, use the PS on the photos to tidy them up. If you use Lr to edit them I don't think the edits will stay unless you buy the Lr program. I get a bit carried away, preachy in fact, when I find something new that works for me.
ReplyDeleteNo,not at all. I appreciate the thoughts. My mom uses LR much more often than PS now and has been talking it up to me for some time. Since I really only take photos from the real camera when traveling, I don't think about the software until I've got hundreds of them. At that point, I don't have the patience to learn anything new. I just want to get them DONE. I actually finished Portugal tonight. So I've still got time for free trial. I'll check it out.
DeleteHowever, you made edits on those photos of yours, did they not stay edited?
They did if I saved them as edits, creating two files. Otherwise no. I don't mind though. I could have bought the program but didn't. Didn't lose the original though.
DeleteI think in future the PS will be the reserve of people doing billboards. What with 20+ mpix in an average camera the raw file will be virtually indestructible.
Sorry, my error was I didn't save 'each' file as I edited it. I went through loads just trying it out. And dis-improving as many as I improved. But in truth I wasn't really thinking beyond testing the thing.
Ah, got it. It makes sense to try it out as much as possible if you're thinking of purchasing.
DeleteThat is even too hot for me! I have never seen that message on a phone...although I don't have a smart phone so that may be why!
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh at your white leg comment...my husband has very fair skin...I just go ahead and blind people since we don't have that many hot days here.
Happy Summer!
Fair skin sucks this time of year. Today at dismissal it felt like my skin was melting. No matter how much sun screen, in this type of weather it doesn't matter. Oh well, forecasting cooler temps later this week. Fingers crossed.
DeleteI tried to go swimming Monday and nearly died-- the water here still isn't warm enough!
ReplyDeleteI have an interview for the art teacher spot on Thursday-- wish me luck!
Good luck! Ya, ours are still cool too, if not heated, because our nights are still relatively cool. We had one warm night, but since they've been in the 60s which doesn't keep pool temps up.
DeleteI am trying to decide which is worse hot dry or hot wet. It is a draw I think!
ReplyDeleteOh hot and wet in regards to weather is way worse in my opinion. I can't get my hair to dry as it is. :)
Delete$35 for a spray tan until you get the base...makes you feel gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI like the heat, but that was too much for sure!
