So Long, 2016!

I've seen a lot of mention over the last week about 2016 being such a bad year and how many people are glad it is just about over.  Personally, I found it to by like any other regular year (other than that damn election).  On the news front, I guess it would seem that it was a rough year, but part of me wonders if it's just the constant inundation and quick-but-lack-of-facts-news that we get anymore.  A year or so ago I read an article that said something along the lines that "things" aren't getting worse, we just hear about the worse "things" more often than we used to.  And I tend to agree with that.  With that being said, this comedy group made 2016 into a horror movie, and it's pretty funny.
Right now, my new year's resolution is to write more.  The last few months I've had a lot of ideas swirling around in my head, but not a lot wherewithal to get it down or blog about it.  I've just been doing other things.
I wish you a safe and fun New Year's Eve and Happy New Year!  See you in 2017!

  1. Happy new year.

And 2016, don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way out. I had enough of you in May.

  2. Happy New Year! And yes, you are exactly right! With the all-information-all-the-time world we live in, it's hard to get away from any kind of news, good or bad. That's why it's important to simply TUNE out from time to time.

  3. It took stupid me awhile to realize why so many people were talking about what a bad year 2016 had been. The election honestly played no part in my negative sentiments. I will say this.... I'm sick to death of all the whining coming from both sides. It's time to move on and look for positives.

I agree with what you said about things not necessarily being worse, but that we are more aware of them now. Modern day media is both a blessing and a curse. I think it's good for all of us to disconnect periodically. (I might need to be reminded of that!)

Hope your new year is getting off to a good start!

  4. Loved that linked video! I wish it were longer.

Yeah it's been a tough year for me and I feel worn out more than usual. A lot has to do with the constant screaming/whining/gloating over the election not to mention the follow-up to it over the previous two years. Some has to do with family. The balance just has to do with a series of unfortunate events. I'm ready for just some good old peace and quiet to recharge for awhile.

    1. Yah the first of the year always feels like there's a chance to breathe after the craziness of the holidays and the build up to the end of the year.
Peace and quiet is a good word(s) for the new year!

  5. I agree. This year was pretty much like last year.. sure we traveled, the kids got a little older.. and so on so forth.
People have gotten very caught up in the political situation.. and i'm sure if you asked how the republican's felt when Obama won I'm sure they thought the world was ending 8 years ago.
Agreed social media and the internet allow bad news to get to us much faster than it once did.. the world has always been a scary place and bad things have always happened.

    1. There are things I like about social media and the speed of it all, but otherwise I thinks it's the devil! :). As much good as it does it also causes LOTS of problems.
