I MUST See This

I’ve been to the Netherlands twice.  Both trips included time mostly in Amsterdam, and I’ve also visited Nijmegen.  Traveling back there has not been at the top of my list – both trips were fantastic, but there are so many other places I want to see.  That was until the newest Afar magazine arrived in my mailbox this weekend.

As I flipped through the pages, this stunning picture stopped me with a gasp…
Aerial View of Tulip Flower Fields, Amsterdam, The Netherlands Are you FREAKING kidding me?

This is the aerial view of the tulip fields in the Netherlands during tulip season.  Tulips are one of my top three favorite flowers (hydrangeas and gerbera daisies are too) so I made a point to visit the flower markets in Amsterdam when I was there.  Those markets couldn’t hold a candle to what I am seeing here.

After searching, I found more images.

Have you seen the tulips?  What’s on your must see list?

  8. What beautiful pictures. There is a place on the 405 near San Diego that was beautiful like this during Poinsettia season.

  9. There is a tulip festival in British Columbia. It might be a better bet than Holland for the tulips are in flower for two/three days at most before they go in with the mowers and decapitate the heads.

I have a good friend near Bruges, Flanders. That place is as flat as the rest of the area. So flat that my mind began imagining hills and you having been to Holland you know how ridiculous that is.

  10. Oh Yeah! Holland would definitely be a stop on my journey through Europe! I would only hope that I could be there when the tulips are in full bloom!! Great post!!

  14. @Vince-I've never been to BC, but I hear it's beautiful. That's much closer for me than the 11 hour flight to Europe. I would like to visit Belgium too after seeing "In Bruges". :)
