Saturday 9

Saturday 9 time!
1) Do you ever fantasize about flying, beyond the rainbow or anywhere else? Yah, no, flying is never in my fantasies. Traveling abroad is one of my favorite things to do.  I wish I could just wiggle my nose or shake my ponytail to get there though.

2) Do you think you have seen The Wizard of Oz more than 10 times?  I actually have never been a fan.  As a kid the wicked witch and her monkeys traumatized me.  I may not have ever seen the whole movie all the way through, not able to get past the scary parts.

3) Which Wizard of Oz character would you most like to dress as for Halloween?  See above, but if I had to pick, probably Dorothy…those red sparkly shoes!

4) What will Trick or Treaters get when they come to your front door? Since the entire day will be spent on Halloween, I’ll most likely come home, turn off all the lights, and go to bed.

5) Did you ever TP a neighbor's house or indulge in other acts of Halloween vandalism as a kid? Nope

6) Who annoys you more -- people who never respond to your texts/emails, or those who never look up because they're always checking their texts/emails? I’m probably more guilty of the latter, so those who don’t respond in a timely manner are more irritating.  Although I have been known to say, “Stop looking at your phone…be with who you’re with!”

7) Who was the last person you hugged? I say goodbye to my students each day with a hug or high five.  Most choose a hug, so thinking about who brought up the end of the dismissal line, Juan was the last person I hugged. :)
The last non-student people I hugged were my book club friends at book club last night.  A few of them I hadn’t seen since last month’s get together.

8) What two colors do you like to wear together?   How is it that this question has taken me the longest to answer?  I don’t really have a signature color combo.  I wear a lot of black, so whatever goes with black I guess.

9) Did your alarm clock wake you up this fine Saturday morning? Nope, and still in bed.  As a matter of fact, when I smacked the alarm off yesterday morning my very first thought was, “Thank goodness I don’t have to set it tomorrow.”

Your turn!

  1. I actually am the teacher who did say I am so happy Halloween fell on a Wednesday this year....better than the Tuesday it should have been except for LEAP YEAR making it a Wednesday...as Wednesday at my school is a minimum day so it is Halloween math, Halloween language, Halloween art, eat Halloween snack and GO HOME!!

As for the Wizard of Oz...when I was a kid it came on TV once a year...and I had to watch it...so yes...more than 10 times here....but I am with you on the flying part...and the alram cclock part for today too.

    Enjoy your weekend :)

    1. I actually don't mind the day of Halloween in school, because it's fun to link everything to it. The next day is actually worse. They are tired and hyped up on candy. We've got two more days left in the week after that. I'd like whoever is in charge to change Halloween to fall on Friday every year. That way they have the weekend to recover.

  2. Everything goes with black! With denim, too! That's why those are two of my favorites.

    1. Yep! Jeans, a black sweater, and boots...my staples for fall/winter.

  3. I don't think I ever seen all of the WoO, ever, Ever. I, even as a kid, didn't like the mix of cartoons and actors. I feel the same about who framed Roger Rabbit. That and the notion of some 'girl' dancing along a yellow road seemed a tad pointless.
I forget to get stuff this year for the T&Ter. I expect they will survive.

    1. It's a very surreal film isn't it. The exaggerated color also made it unappealing to me for some reason.
I guess due to safety a lot of our kids do community trick or treating at the mall or out of the trunks of cars in a shopping center parking lot these days. The kids go, get their candy in one fell swoop, and then head home to eat it I guess. I don't think my darkened door will cause any one to suffer either. :)

    1. It's funny, I know a few people who are OBSESSED with the movie. I don't get it really. Even thinking about it as an adult, it gives me the willies.

  5. Holy cow- the monkey thing did a number on me too! It still kinda does. I wish they would cut that scene out.

Have a great rest of your Saturday!

  6. You might like Wicked, it is the story about the "Wicked Witch of the West" who is actually the good witch and the "Good Witch" is actually bad but has good PR

    1. I've heard Wicked (the book and musical) is wonderful. I read the other Gregory Maquire book, "Mirror Mirror" and it was CRAZY! I never ventured into Wicked. I like the concept though. Maybe one of these days.

  7. Saturdays are usually an alarm-free wake up but I took a knitting class this morning so I had to get up. At least it was worth it!

    1. I had an art class today that I had to get up early than I normally would on a Sunday. It was worth it too. It's different setting the alarm for something fun though rather than work.
