You’re Killing Me, Victoria!

A few years ago I feared that my favorite bra from Victoria’s Secret was being discontinued.  Thankfully, they were simply upgrading the model and after just a few weeks it was available again, better than before.  A couple times a year, they have big sales and free shipping offers, and it’s then that I take the opportunity to stock up on some new colors and/or replace any that need to be retired, always remaining faithful to my favorite.

Since all the sizes and colors are available online, I tend to use their site to do my shopping.  I know exactly what I want and can use their coupons to make the cost more manageable.  Other than the wait time, I find it easier than going to the store where they may or may not have the color or size I am looking for.   This past week, I received an email about a percentage off AND free shipping on their website.  I just came from visiting their website, and much to my dismay the collection is still being sold, but they’ve changed the name of the bras.  Now what am I going to do!?!?  If I order them and they don’t fit right I’ll be stuck paying an arm and a leg to ship them back.

The logical option is to head to the mall and try it on.  Which is fine, because it might be exactly the same.  But if it’s not, I’m going to be irritated.  I hate bra shopping.  It’s very hard to tell if a bra REALLY fits within the 30 seconds it’s on in the dressing room.  So you buy it, hoping that it does truly fit.  Then you get it home and try to wear it for more than an hour where it pokes, or rides up, or slips down, or makes your clothes look silly.  I’m all for worthwhile change, but why mess with a good thing.

If bra shopping is required, this is what I have to look forward to.  Fingers crossed my “workhorse” is still available…

Makes me giggle every time.  I tend to be swayed by the “useless boob bedazzler”, and then I regret it after getting it home.  Hmmm, that could be the story of my life!

  1. My knowledge is restricted to getting you out of them. Still I suppose it must be a right pest if you are of a size that dictates the need to don one of them in the very hot scorching weather you've got. Anywoos, good hunting.
Oh, the ones I find funny are those that smush them into a shelf under the owners chin.

  2. Ha! Also important knowledge though. ;)
Bra smushing is never good, for anyone. I don't know if a bra is necessarily to blame for the shelf look, but maybe more so the plasticky boobs inside.

    1. Is there not dedicated fitting shops. We have them here in most Dept Shops. I mentioned your dilemma to a few cousins of the female persuasion. They say, they have them in Chicago and NYC like we do. These secret places in Dept Stores have women of indeterminate age but between 40-70 who can at a glance tell the size of the chest at rib, nipple, cup and the overall weight of the globe. My cousins are no shirking violets but it would seem these ol'gals have them quaking in their flats.
However, they were a bit shocked you had the same garment size and style for years. The consensus was you need to get a fitting at least every two years by one of the Bra-nazi's, their words not mine.
I never would have though I'd have such a conversation. Bloody amazing what you can swing when you are trying to write stuff.

    2. I bet a very entertaining conversation as well.
Chuckling as I leave for work. :). Will respond when I get home tonight.

    3. I went to my first bra-nazi when my mom dragged me there in high school. Being manhandled by the old lady was MORTIFYING at the time.
I got fitted for the one I currently wear, and it has been a few years. The "girls" have remained relatively the same, and the bra still fits well so I haven't seen the need to get another one. If it is in fact discontinued then it's back to the drawing board.
We have the dept stores and of course VSC fits. The independent lingerie stores tend to cater to the larger woman - Ds or more. I can't shop there. Where C used to be the average size here, we're no longer the norm - for various reason I suppose.
Still amused by your conversation. :)

    4. (Chuckle) Being manhandled eh. You could've phrased that differently.

Seems, it isn't the breast itself but the ribcage and the shoulders that can change.
And mosseltoff, the name for a C-cup here in Ireland 'is a good handful'.

    1. Right? I'd rather shop for shoes. And it just dawned on me if I have to buy a different kind of bra, the colors will no longer coordinate with the bottoms. What a pain!

  4. They discontinued mine and I switched to DKNY Wonderbra and never looked back!

    1. Is the wonderbra still being made? I had one or two of those before the VSC, I'll check it out...if needed.
