2) Could your vehicle use a trip to the car wash this weekend? YES! My car can always use a trip to the car wash. Just last week the car was so full of stuff that I was the only one who would fit inside. I finally got it cleaned out so now a car wash is the first item on my weekend to do list.
3) The song Greased Lightening is from the soundtrack of the movie Grease, the biggest money-making movie musical of all time. Have you ever seen it? I have, numerous times, and I must admit I’ve also seen it’s lesser known/lesser quality sequel Grease 2 almost as many times.

8) What was your best subject in high school? What was your worst? English, History, and the Arts were my favorites and math and the sciences were the worse. Although, I had a crush on my physics teacher my junior year and managed to ace the class. I’d never paid such close attention.
9) Sam made good use of the bus ride to school, using that time to complete her homework. What do you remember about getting to or from school? For the most part I walked to school every day until my friends and I were old enough to drive, and then we carpooled ourselves. The only exception to that was the year we moved neighborhoods and I went to the school my dad taught at. That year I had to drive to school with him every morning and drive home with him every evening. It was WAY too much time together.

Yes, it was weird. Luckily he was a well-liked teacher which made acclimating to a new school a lot easier. However he was my math teacher for a semester, as a fluke, and that was rough. Lots of fighting that year.

I looked up the area of GH. I immediately thought Brady Bunch. But you were looking across the valley at Sherman Oaks where it was set.
DeleteI never attended private school so I'm not familiar with how they operate. All schools have politics and what not, but I imagine when there are owners involved, that may change the focus a bit. But that's just speculation on my part.
DeleteI believe the exterior of the Brady house seen in all the episodes is actually Studio City, but the backyard was Sherman Oaks according to Wikipedia. Regardless they are all mid-century homes, just like the ones in GH, all suburbs of LA which boomed about the same time.
You'd have real difficulty NOT to attend a nominally private school here. 90+% are owned by the Catholic Church still.

It is a pretty community with lots of grown up trees since it's been around awhile. It's also not terribly "tracky" like the stuff built later in the 70s/80s and beyond. As I said below, I never lived there though, just born there.

ReplyDeleteOh ya, you've probably seen most of "The Valley" in one thing or another. I never lived in GH though, I was just born in GH Hospital which isn't even there anymore.
DeleteCHiPS was the first show I remember watching that everywhere they went was somewhere I knew. Being close to the studios, so much is filmed here even if it's supposed to be somewhere else. My favorite story of this is a neighborhood where my friend Jason lives was used for a Steven Seagal REALITY show which was supposed be set in Louisiana. Modern Family is sometimes filmed in his neighborhood too.
Art was definitely my favorite. I took art classes whenever I could.
