This afternoon, I saw a commercial for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio this August. Are you kidding me? Didn't we JUST have the 2012 Olympics? I just don't know where the time goes.
At some point didn't they start alternating Summer and Winter so that we'd have Olympics every two years? I use to love watching when I was younger, but I rarely tune in anymore.
Yah, the winter Olympics were just two years ago, but it's been 4 years since summer! That's just nuts. I find the coverage so spotty that I don't enjoy it like I used to. I do like the fanfare of it, so the anticipation is kind of fun. Once the media outlets get in their own way trying to cover it, I lose interest. :)
I don't know. I think I have been asleep for two years. Yes, China is back a bit, but London was only yesterday. In truth though, sports is only fun if there's an outside chance of actually playing it, not winning mind, just playing. And frankly they are getting fewer and fewer. Not that I ever had all that many choices. I'm now left with archery. And when tell me did every little gobshite and his aunty become iron people, swimming cycling and then running for what seems like one hundred miles.
There are a few I enjoy just watching, but like I mentioned above, it's really more the idea of the olympics I like than the actual events. It has gotten so large and almost inaccessible to the regular person these last few go rounds. And the OC might be as corrupt as the World Cup. But ya, I can vividly remember sitting on the couch with my mom watching the opening ceremonies in London. That can't have been 4 years ago!!
Two things. First, I love watching the Olympics. For all the politics and media manipulation, I am still drawn in. Second, if you think times passes quickly now, hang on. It only gets worse, I'm afraid.
Don't I know it! Crazy! Although the last few weeks of the school year DRAG. It feels like it should be next Friday already...that's how long this week has felt. :)
