What If I Had Been A T-------?

Note: Letters intentionally left out as the author does not wish to be on a government watch list.

This past weekend I flew home from Las Vegas. After the Christmas day t-------- threat, I expected my check-in time to be terrible. However, upon arriving at the airport, it was anything but. I went from the car door to airplane door without showing my ID one time. I know, right!?!?

Now, to be honest, I don’t really fit the t-------- profile being a blonde, blue-eyed white girl and all, but I really think that’s beside the point. They didn’t know for sure that I was who I said I was when I checked in. They didn’t know if I had a b--- in my pants. Plus, I was only flying one-way. Who else do they let slide by because he/she doesn’t fit the profile.

Of course, going through airport s------ is never fun and is often a pain in the butt, but it is necessary. I would rather show up 2 hours before my flight and be checked and scanned and checked again than have someone board a plane who shouldn’t.

Did you fly anywhere this holiday season? What was your experience?

  1. That is actually a little disturbing. I didn't fly or drive anywhere. We stayed home. It was good!

  2. You didn't have to show your ID at all? Not even when you checked in? I hope none of the t----- read this because they will begin to disguise themselves as you.

  3. I didn't fly this weekend, but a couple of years ago I had bought three lighters at a surf shop in Florida that had the name of the shop on them. They were souveniers for some of the surfer guys I used to work with back in CA. Well, I forgot all about them, and when I got home to CA there they were in my carry-on! Yikes! Ever since then I worry about how thorough of an inspection these folks make when your stuff goes through the xray machine.

Now I'm probably on that list with you!

  4. I didn't fly over the holidays, but I think TSA doesn't do a very good job. It seems they DON'T screen the people who need to be screened, while spending an inordinate amount of time screening those who would, statistically, pose the least amount of a "T" threat.

Granted, ALL should be screened, but some more than others. Let's just be honest.

Living in Atlanta which is a major airport hub, security waits are ALWAYS interminably long... you get used to it, and you just have to deal with it. I'd much rather be slightly inconvenienced than be blown to bits at 30,000 feet.

    Just my 2 cents....

  5. My daughter flew to Chicago on the 2nd. Nothing out of the ordinary. It's a little hard to believe.

  6. I didn't fly anywhere but had a similar experience a year ago...my daughter had an expired state id card that she had to use to check in...so her carry on bags were searched at two airports....when she arrived in Reno at our hotel she was going through her backpack and said, "Anyone want to disect something?" and there was her disection kit from her bio lab earlier that day! The kit had 2 scalpals, a pith and several other items that were indeed could be weapons. She was lucky it didn't get confiscated as it cost over $100 and was needed for every lab in her major.

  7. no. i don't even think i drove anywhere.

however this morning i was watching the news and they had the airport security consultant guy on who said that the AU gov't spending millions on full body e-ray scanning equipment is a useless waste of money and is only a token gesture to make people feel safe.

he said those x-ray people (at least here) are not even properly trained on how to read the real th---ts.

he claimed t-------- th-----t is not at the check-in the real th----t are the people behind the scenes, the fuel filler uppers, maintenance workers, baggage handlers, plane cleaners, etc.

therefore this money should be used to put security checkpoints in place at those backareas.

  9. You are so fancy that you get invited to special places by annonymous bloggers.

I didn't travel anywhere except from my couch to my bed and back again. When I do travel, I always arrive 5 million hours too early for flights like they say to do and I always sit around waiting and waiting and waiting.

  11. Oh. This does bother me. WOW! When I flew to a photography conference in November I had to show my ID everywhere. Even at baggage check in. And I was glad that I had to! I was so nervous about a t_____ being on the plane! I wanted everyone to get checked! : )
