SAT 9

Haven’t done a Saturday 9 in awhile…

1) Do you believe there's only one person (and there ain't no other) for you? Or do you think we can truly love several partners over the course of our lives? Maybe someday the former, but for now the latter is my frame of reference.

2) Do you have any Christina Aguilera song on your iPod/mp3 player? No, I don’t listen to her music.

3) What do you deserve an award for? And who would you thank in your acceptance speech? Oh sheesh, I don’t know…

4) Do you have a fragrance or scent you regularly wear?  Clinique’s Happy or Jessica McClintock are two that I wear.  They are mild and don’t screw around with my allergies.  I was out shopping with a friend this summer who was looking for a new perfume.  Many were so strong I thought my head was going to explode.

5) Do you have any allergies? Nothing life threatening, well except I can’t eat seafood, but yes – walnuts, cottonwood (and most springtime blooms that blow off and fly around in the air causing hay fever), Siamese cats, and alcohol I think.

6) There's an older lady who proclaims during a TV commercial, "I will give up beer, bread, wine or soda but I won't give up Life Alert!" No, we're not going to debate her diet. Instead the question is: What are some of the staples that are always on your grocery list?  Chicken breasts, pretzels, fruit, broccoli, squash, bread, soda, peanut butter, Greek yogurt, and tomatoes are staples at my house.

7) What's your favorite sitcom of all time? Probably Seinfeld (not the last 2 years of the series though) and I Love Lucy.  More recently I’ve enjoyed watching Modern Family, The Middle, and New Girl too.

8) When it comes to your socks, do you prefer solids, stripes or prints? Mostly white no-shows for my sneakers, but I do have a few cute pairs of funky socks with stripes and prints.  Most of my shoes though aren’t meant for socks.

9) At what age do you consider a person "middle aged?"  And when do they transition to "old?"  I once heard a comedian say that 45 or 50 could only be middle age if we lived to be 90 or 100.  As old as the number of my age seems to me, I don’t feel old and that’s probably what matters most.  Well, some days I feel older than my age, but most of the time way younger.

Your turn!

  1. Clinique Happy is a good choice! I not only like the scent, the sleek bottle is pretty. (How the bottle will look on my dresser matters almost as much as the scent.)

    1. I keep mine in a cabinet, so that doesn't matter all that much to me. A lot of fragrances have been discontinued, I've been hearing. I'll be sad if these ones ever are. My nose doesn't like a lot of them.

  2. Reading some of these Saturday 9's this week and I am surprised to see that there are not many Christina Aguilera fan's.

  3. I like your #9 answer--as I get older, I don't feel old.

  4. I enjoy the Middle and Modern Family too. I think Zoe D is cute but I am afraid I don't always get the humor. I must be past middle age!

    1. Ha ha! It's quick and the writing is subtle, but when I think about some of the lines a moment after they are said, it cracks me up.

  5. Seems like a lot of us are buying chicken.
Enjoy the rest of your day!

  6. Hi Pumpkin, Thanks for stopping by. I am not an Aguilera fan either, but I do have a peanut butter sandwich each day at work. Watch the debates and figure out who the joke is on this year. I think it is on us, the American voters.

    1. Whatever do you mean?!?! I think the VP candidates said the words "Middle Class" about 900 times between the two of them the other night. Clearly, they are gonna take care of us! ;)

  7. The first one is an odd one. If you are in a relationship doesn't it mean you are on the hunt for the next. While if you aren't, well it may point to a delusional nature one way or another. But I find your answer actually very good.

    1. Hmmmm, is that what it means? I guess I've been doing it wrong then.

    2. Did you go see the Shuttle being moved through the streets. Gnarly, is an old word that springs to mind about the awe I'd feel on seeing it moving down a road.
It must be so truly sad to see it up close since the normal view was through lenses at huge milage. Why would you go to Cape Kennedy now when all you'd see is concrete platforms and blast pits.

    3. :)
No, I wish I had. I didn't even realize this was the weekend it was coming through town until today. Some friends of mine watched from their office buildings as it flew in a couple of weeks ago.
The coverage and pictures have been incredible though. It would have been something to see, history.
This photo shows it next to one of our famous landmarks. It's great!

  8. I hear you in the perfume department....I don't mind a mild scent...or a whif....but when people use enough for a rugby team it makes my head hurt...and I sneeze...I once got out of jury duty because of it...someone was wearing the entire bottle and I couldn't stop sneezing.

    Happy Weekend!

  9. I think tomatoes are an excellent staple for the grocery list! I am old and I am 36 but so far being old hasn't been bad for me! : ) I think you could get an award for being a great teacher!

  10. Our tomatoes are so good this time of year - blood red. I went to the farm last weekend and bought a basket. I eat them like candy when they're like this. There's one left sitting on my counter and just yesterday rigby climbed up, grabbed it, and carried it around the house like a ball. Other than two tiny teeth marks it's fine. I've been trying to rationalize still using it since.

  11. I have no Christina music that I listen to and probably never will. I am officially middle-aged at 41.
