A Favorite Day

Today was “Pajama Day” at school.  It is one of my favorite days of the school year because I have an excuse to wear my pajamas outside of the house.  The kids are also pretty cute when they come dressed in their jammies.

Even my naughtiest boy seemed less naughty today while wearing footy pajamas!

To add to the greatness, it was a minimum school day, on a Friday, before a whole week off for Thanksgiving.  I LOVE pajama day (and minimum days and Fridays and school breaks)!

  1. How fun! Lucky you with the week off! I have to work M-W.....with 5 conferences left! And no jammies!

  2. We had conferences a couple of weeks ago. I had 8 no shows that I had to make up on another day. Jammie's would have made that much more bearable. :) It's nice finally being done with them and now I can enjoy my break...even though I have to go in to work tomorrow for a half day meeting and then I'll really be on vaca!

  3. Are you off anyplace for the break.
This week really shortens this term for you. The schools here are off earlier for Halloween which meant this year the last week in Oct.
You sure a hell wouldn't get anyone out and about in their PJs here. We've had out first frost all this week, so mornings are down about 0*c.

I really like how you've laid out the room. I take it you can walk about within the desks while all the kids face each other , or at least they aren't serried one behind the other making the experience for them more communal than the entirely individual and very lonely one from the past. A smile from a friend at that age can settle a worry and remove useless stress.

    1. No nowhere for this break. It's just a week and then go back in session for the first 3 weeks of December before our winter break (when I will be traveling). Most schools here have a fall break in October and then just Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday. My district gets to limit our days off by tacking 3 days to TG rather than 5 in October.
We actually had a cool day today - a high of 47F - so it was a good day for pjs. Usually, just by chance, it's 75-80 on pajama day and we're all sweating in our flannel. I'm even debating turning on the heat tonight as I'm shivering under the covers as I write this.
Just moments before that photo was taken we had moved the desks into that set up. I go back and forth between the double Es in the photo and "teams" of 4, facing each other. I do lots of cooperative learning which is good for all kids, but essential for English language learners. I love to teach that way but they've been in that configuration since September and I needed a break from the constant talking. Plus the teams take up so much more room. It's nice to have a little more room to walk around when we're in the Es.

    2. 9*c/47*f. Yeah that isn't warm.
I remember when in the south of France the cold was different. More biting somehow. It kinda got into the bone. This is what the mountains look like, it's kinda like near you ?. http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:France_-_Aude_-_Ch%C3%A2teaux_de_Lastours_1.jpg

    3. When it gets cold here we usually have the wind too. It's been bitterly cold the last two days and it sounds like the big bad wolf is huffing and puffing trying to blow my house down. :)
Yes, that looks very similar to the Santa Susana and the San Gabriel ranges - minus the castles of course. Even the shrubbery and what not looks similar.

  4. Ah that's so cute! It takes me back to the days when I wore pantaloons in the circus.

    1. Yes, I could definitely be a professional vacationer. It's amazing what sleeping just 2 hours later can do for one's mental state.
