Tasty Tuesday

Last week I held Book Club and this was the dessert I made. It comes from a Southern Living party I went to a few years ago. It is probably the easiest desert ever and is always a hit.

Easy Cherry Cobbler
2 cans cherry pie filling (any fruit works great)
2 sticks of butter (melted)
1 package white cake mix (not Jiffy)
2/3 cup water

1. Spread cherry pie filling into the bottom of a 9x12 baking dish.
2. Pour 2/3 cup water over the pie filling.
3. Sprinkle the cake mix over the top of the filling.
4. Pour butter evenly over the top of the cake mix.
5. Bake in oven for about 45 minutes, until top is golden brown.
6. Let set for 10-15 minutes.
7. While still warm, serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
8. Enjoy!
Being the host, I forgot to take a picture of it when it came out of the oven or when it was served. This was what was left after everyone left. It's funny how food that has already been partly eaten doesn't look quite as appetizing as it does before everyone digs in. But I promise you that it is very, very good, even if looks like a big mess in the picture.

  1. I dont like cooked fruit but that looks good. I'm about to post a Tasty tuesday!

  2. I love it! How easy, and tasty. You are right, the variations are endless.

  3. This sounds so good! And SO easy : ). I think I will make it for dessert tonight. I mean, seriously, I DO NEED to consume an extra million calories today : (!

  4. Hey, you should do a Mr. Linky and get lots of people to join this Tasty Tuesday thing : ). Really, you will become famous.

  5. I've said it before and I'll say it again.

I usually don't like dessert much. And I usually don't like fruit desserts, I prefer the chocolate type.

But holy hell this was GOOOOOD! I was so full after dinner but I ate my full portion of dessert because it tasted so, so good.

  6. I make that too. I call it "Dump Cake" because all you do literally is dump all of the ingredients in a pan! Yummy!

  7. This looks great but since I am not a cherry person I think I am going cut up some fresh strawberries and let them sit in some lemon juice and sugar until they're syrupy and then follow the rest of what you did. I love that you used white cake mix. Awesome. Thanks!!!!
