Saturday 9

This week’s Sat 9

1. What do you have planned for fun in the summertime? Nothing terribly exciting, just some rest and not working.  Maybe some day or overnight trips.  Two more weeks until school is out and the end of the year is dragging its feet.

2. Who was the last celebrity that you thought was bright until you saw them interviewed? I guess I’m cynical about celebrities because I don’t really think too much about their intelligence so am usually surprised when I see an interview that demonstrates it.

3. Do you think the US ignores history by being in its present war(s)? I don’t know, I think my “let’s just leave everyone else alone and worry about ourselves” view is probably pretty elementary.

4. Have you ever conformed just to "fit in"? I believe I did more so as a teenager – clothes, music, etc.  Now, I just do what I do and think what I think without a concern for fitting in.  Don’t we just get too old to worry about that?

5. Do you feel that you at times do not enjoy the moment because you are worried about what will come next? I’m not a worrier, but I do look ahead at what’s next a lot.  With that being said, I enjoy the enjoyable moments.

6. Does it seem that when you learn more about yourself, that others' opinions of you seem stupid? Hmmmm, I feel stupid because I think this question is supposed to be answered yes and I’m going to say not always.  Actually, it depends on what the opinion is based on.  Other people’s opinion can be a mirror.  If their opinion isn’t a good one, it’s up to me to decide whether it’s valid or baseless.   If it’s an unfair opinion, it might bum me out for a bit, but whatever.  But if it’s fair, it should be used to benefit yourself.

7. In rock & roll history, what bands or artists do you think made the biggest impact?  I hear the Beatles and the Stones mentioned a lot as most influential.  To me I like what I like even though I’m not really sure if they are impactful.  I think it’s telling though when the fans of a certain band span across generations.  I’ve been to several concerts and most of them had fans of similar make up.  However I saw Fleetwood Mac when I lived in Boston and the Police a few times here in LA – both bands had fans that ranged from teenagers to adults over 60.  To me, that’s a pretty big impact.

8. Who do you blame for the state of the economy? Why? This might be a very simplistic question to a very complex problem.  There are so many factors that have weakened the economy.  Of course, I’d like to say the big bad Republicans, but the answer is more likely EVERYONE.

9. Do you get upset and do you think you're being lazy when you do nothing? I don’t relax very well unless I’m sleeping.  So I do get bored and antsy when I’ve nothing to do.  Therefore I keep busy.  Even if I’m on the couch watching TV, I’m working on another project or two to keep from getting bored.

I found these more difficult to answer.  How about you? :)

  1. Might I have the OED for 'IMPACTFUL' please. :-D

I think the rest are mostly don't cares or don't knows. 1, dk. 2, dc 3, ????. 4, isn't that the definition of a relationship. 5, dc. 6, that's just convoluted woman speak. 7, well if nothing else they cause the upwelling of new words ;-). 8, actually less the republicans that you might expect. 9, Soooo, your the kind of chick that drives a mate into garden sheds and Brady Bunch dens.

  2. @Vince - It IS in the online Merriam Webster though :) but not in the OED :(. Nah to #4 - if you can't be yourself, why bother, it's too hard otherwise. And I agree with your #8 as much as I don't want to. Ha ha ha Brady Bunch dens - good one.

  3. Makey-uppy lexicons don't count.

#4; rubbish, utter rubbish. There isn't a woman on the planet that thinks her man when she met him was the finished article. Why do you think that are you gals love a bad boy if not to tame him. And if you could you'd be bored to death.

    1. @vince -FINE I'll have to give you the bad boys, but history shows, at least mine does, no matter how much you want someone to change he or she probably never will. Too old to play those "it's a challenge" games anymore. Just thinking about it makes me cringe...just like snakes! :)

  7. Ah no, I'm not talking about the psychopath, no, just the normal cut and thrust lunge and parry of any healthy relationship. The type of stuff just rubs corners from people.

  8. Your answer to 8 makes a lot of sense.

    Have a great day!

  9. I love that you're a multi-tasker! It's something I should try to do more often. I keep *promising* myself that I'll do leg lifts or something positive while watching TV, instead of just laying here like a slug. Now all I have to do is DO it!

  10. These were interesting questions this week, but I was and am too tired from moving to participate. I could almost post a link to yours as I agree with most all of them. I look forward to other projects to keep me busy this summer.
