Come On, Fall! Where Are You?

October has arrived.  When I lived in New England, autumn was my favorite season with the temperature dropping and the leaves changing colors.  Here in the valley north of Los Angeles, fall seems to arrive later and later each year.  I think we are on our millionth day of 100+ temps.  I’m to the point that when the weatherman shows the week’s forecast I point at the TV and say, “Oh just shut up, you!”  It’s sooooo hotttttt.

Regardless, at least September is over and we are closer to some cooler weather than we were last month.  And because we’ve turned another page on the calendar, it’s time for The Kathryn Wheel’s Calendar Challenge.  I had gotten a little tired of the layout for the previous few months, so it was changed up a bit in September.
stuff 239I’m not terribly happy with the way it turned out, but I did have funny making it and all the mindless doodling and coloring.  I’m not sure what I’ll do for October’s layout though.

Having a crazy, but good, new school year, there has been so little time for any other creating.  I did manage a few pages.
stuff 240 stuff 244 stuff 244
Happy October!  I hope everyone is enjoying their fall so I can live vicariously through you.

  1. If you would like to swap the hot for the cold - I would be glad to do the honours. Autumn has well and truly arrived in the UK and summer bypassed us !!!! Pages are great, love the doodling, I'm trying to find the time to practis a little more zentangle - it never looks as good as other peoples. But yours are fab and I love how you've incorporated them into your journal pages, they look very striking xx

    1. I would love a trade...just tell me when! :). Thank you for the nice comments. I've heard a lot about zentagle since posting my pages. One of these days I'll have to check it out.

  2. The pages you have made are lovely. It must be very draining when it is so hot all the time; here we have crisp, cool autumn weather! Valerie

    1. Thank you! Yes it gets tiring for sure. It's hard motivating yourself to do much outside anyway.

  3. Ha I am up in Washington state and it is sunny and warm here too. Must admit to cool evenings though. One day with a little rain in over 90 days.... Love your work!

    1. So little rain is pretty rare for you isn't it? Thanks for coming by.

  7. Fall...we finally had some heat here today...and I loved it! Unfortunately when our New Zealand friends were here it was foggy and cold...and they went to Disneyland today in the 105 heat...uh!

Love your pages....so colorful and fun...makes me jealous :)

    1. Oh, Disneyland in cool weather is bad enough. In 105 heat? Forget about it! :) I don't know how many more of these hot hot summers I can take. They keep getting later and later too. I think I'm a bit jealous that you've not even had a summer while ours has been like 4 months long...so far.
      Thanks for your kind words.

  8. Fall is on the way here and when we went thru the Rockys last week it the aspens were golden. It is cool enough in the am to wear jammie pants. It was not too long ago I was complaining about the 100+ temps.

    1. Oh that's a beautiful drive. I wish it were cool enough just to use a blanket when I go to bed. I haven't opened the windows in weeks and weeks as it's still 80+ at night.

  9. Yes, of course I'm sympathetic. Yeah right. This is like a rich person telling me that having money brings it's own problems. pssst.
What I'm pricing right this moment is attic insulation and no one seems to have the real easy stuff that I can install myself. They want me to hire the truck and the blower machine.

I suppose that's why the people gravitated to the Hollywood hills once motor cars became usual in the 1920's. There would be a wind blowing up there even on the hottest day. Actually the hotter you are the windier they would be.

    1. Noooooo, it's nothing like a rich person complaining at all! It's damn hot!!! :)
Yah, we've got the winds all right. The Santa Anas are on their way, and we are getting close to fire season.
Insulation because it's too cold and you want to keep the heat in? I guess the grass is always greener isn't it. I know nothing about it, but I've seen rolls and rolls of that batting-type stuff at all the DIY stores. I've heard you have to be real careful with that stuff though too.

  10. your pages are fabulous!! Love all the bright and happy colors!
PS-wanna trade places? I'm lamenting the end of the heat and all things summer here in PA!

  11. I think they're wonderful...I'm beginning to realise the process of doodling and colouring and fun is the most important part regardless of the result. Your patterning is so fun!

    1. I read an article awhile back that said doodling is a very valuable listening tool. It also said someting like people who doodle during creative meetings are far more successful in their fields than those who don't. I spend most meetings doodling. I don't know about the above, but it does keep me from yawning. :)

  13. If that is mindless doodling...
Your pictures are amazing, absolutely gorgeous.

  14. Wow -- I love all that doodling! And your colors. We have been very hot all summer here in Tennessee, but we are finally having some chilly, rainy weather -- and I'm missing the summer already, despite complaining abut the heat and drought!
