Happy 2013!

Truly, were there less days in 2012 than usual?  It went by SO fast.  As much as I like making the calendar pages in my journal, they seem to make the months fly by more quickly.  This is my second year participating in The Kathryn Wheel’s Calendar Challenge.  Each month, I find it a bit more difficult to create something interesting or new, but I plan on participating in 2013 again.  My most recent pages, December's, are first.  Below those is the rest of the year in reverse order.

I leave you with this quote which I’m letting inspire me in the year to come…
I must learn to love the fool in me--the one who feels too much, talks too much, takes too many chances, wins sometimes and loses often, lacks self-control, loves and hates, hurts and gets hurt, promises and breaks promises, laughs and cries. It alone protects me against that utterly self-controlled, masterful tyrant whom I also harbor and who would rob me of my human aliveness, humility, and dignity but for my Fool.

  1. Happy New Year!

I love looking at your calendar journals...such beautiful color. And even though last year flew by it had an extra day in it!

    Loved the quote :)

Now to work on my sketchbook...I have a great idea I just have to do it!

    1. Thanks Marey! It did have an extra day and still went by so quickly.
I've only a few pages done in my sketchbook as the due date is getting nearer. I may not be as on that one as I'd like to be this year. :(

  2. I like the "patchwork" of colors you've used on your calendar pages. Beware....the older you get the faster time goes! Why is that? Have a wonderful 2013 and thanks for stopping by my blog.

The quote resonated with me in a lot of ways.

  4. Blocks in design can simply be where you are doing your work. I know if I went to live in LA I couldn't help but design something to do with the freeways. But I'll bet you hardly see them. Just remember the best art be it theater, poetry, painting or design generally is a function of borders. Those places where things are in flux. Usually between order and wilderness, but not always. I think that's why I really like September.

On 2012, I found it dim. Not dark as in depression dark. Just dim as in low light.

    1. It's funny that you like Sept. as it was the page I tried to go outside the "box" so to speak and I struggled with it the entire month. After said and done, I liked working on it, but didn't like the way it turned out - like what I had pictured in my head.

    2. The ancestors had the same problem. What they did we to form the text as part of the overall geometry of the design.
They do say breeding breaks out in the eyes. If what you're doing (the lot of you) isn't illuminating a manuscript I don't know.
I do wish there was a emoticon that did the giggle of the Cookie Monster :-))))))))

    3. Breeding breaks out in the eyes? I don't think I know what that means...

    4. It's no shock if the child of a dancer becomes a dancer. Only more so. Talent for something crosses millennium, like eye colour.

    1. I've debated with myself whether to continue the journey, but in the end, I really like to have that record of each day...even the humdrum ones.

    1. The journal I used for the last 2/3 of the year was fairly large (9x13) which is bigger than I'd been used to. I really liked making use of the space though. It allowed for larger date spaces, which was fun.
My new journal is average sized, which I'll be glad to get back to for other work, but will miss for the calendars.

  8. I loved April...very clever with the egg shapes. I might do a journal...not as crafty as you, but recording what happens each day. I likey!
