I love the rain…most of the time. The final two days of last week’s school week it rained non-stop. I don’t like when it rains at school.
Little kids need to go outside and play. They shouldn’t be cooped up inside the classroom all day.
Little kids who are stuck inside the classroom all day have a hard time learning. They get a little lot bouncy, making their teacher not like the rain!
PLUS…
Even so, the rain is always a welcomed sight here because we rarely see it. Since it doesn’t come too often, “we” don’t really know how to do rain. My commute time to work just about quadrupled when it rains due to drivers going too slow or way too fast – both causing accidents.
To keep the rain from flowing into our classrooms in this hallway, maintenance had to do some digging. The rain gutters are broken and corroded.
It looks like we’re getting a mote!
Which might be a better idea than THIS one for keeping unwanted visitors out.
My most favorite part of the stormy weather is the sky.

This week’s forecast shows 50s/60s and sunny skies. I hope we see some more rain…just not during the school week.
At least you lot seem to have the brain to turn on your lights. I was in town this morning and lots were driving without. Some with only one.
ReplyDeleteOn the rain, you tend to get downpours. Where the heavens opens and dumps like from a bucket. Spain has similar. We get soft rain, it's lazy. Yes it can be driving-rain but that's the wind.
I really like the 2st and last photo. But the sky is gorgeous.
Thank you...ya know I love me a pretty sky! :). The first one was actually the most spectacular, but I only had my phone camera. It was too early in the morning to function let lone go get the real camera, so it's unfortunately grainy. The 2nd and last were done with the real camera and the 1st and 3rd with the the phone. The differences in clarity are glaring.
DeleteYes, when the rain comes down here it keeps on coming for the duration of the storm without much let up. It also often rains sideways which makes umbrellas sometimes useless. Transplants who come from places with REAL weather often comment about our sideways rain.
That was my problem too. When I went the 'real' camera route I had to actively decide to take it everyplace, whether I took a shot or not.
DeleteMind you, the newer phones hold more mpix than point and shoot did less that 3 years ago. They are shockingly sharp.
Oh yes by far better. I've only the iPhone to compare and it's gotten progressively better over the last few years. Little light seems to still be a problem area for it, at least for me.
DeleteI have always loved the rain.. where we come from it's a tropical rain, so it's warm and you can literally dance in the rain and not worry about getting sick. We'd go out for a walk when it rained. But here it's a cold rain and it prevents D from enjoying going out..
ReplyDeleteps. the mote is hilarious.
That's how it is in Hawaii, actually enjoyed in your shorts and tees. In fact it cools things off and comes in spurts. I still like being in it as long as I'm not required to wear work clothes and be professional AND deal with paper. Wet clothes and school papers don't mix! So another reason I don't like rain at school...any other time though I like it. :)
DeleteMe too! I like it to rain on the weekends so I can lay on the couch with a fire and catch up on my tv!! :)
ReplyDeleteYes I love that...it's a good reason to be lazy on the weekends. Since I don't know how to use my fire place, I'll live vicariously through you on that one. :)
DeleteI love the pinks in the sky. Things really slow down here when it rains too, but ever since my husband bought me a pair of rain boots I love, it just won't rain enough.
ReplyDeleteCute rain boots are THE best part of the rain. :)
DeleteIs this the first rain this season? It sometimes seems like california drivers get crazy when it rains.
ReplyDeleteIt actually isn't our first rain of winter. We've had several (for us) wet or partially wet days so far. They say that because we have so little and few and far between, the rain brings the oil on the roads up which causes so many accidents. I think during this last rain, there were over 300 accidents vs 70 something the previous week. The rain might be part of it, but not knowing how to drive in weather is definitely another part of it.
DeleteHi Kimberley,
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of the lil man with the umbrella. Did you draw it?? Awesome :) I'll have to pin it to my inspiration board. Thanks for visiting my blo..and I hope you conquer your headcold quickly!!
