Saturday 9

I literally cheered when I got into bed tonight.  After a busy week, I’m  very much looking forward to sleeping in Saturday morning (and Sunday and Monday).  So no bother staying up late completing this week’s Saturday 9!

1) Has anyone ever told you that you resemble a celebrity? No, I don’t think so.

2) Is there an actress or actor whose movies you make it a point to see? I go to tons of movies but tend to choose movies based on theme rather than actor; liking dramas, spy/detective/clever bad guy, mystery/suspense best.  With that being said, I have enjoyed most of the movies I’ve seen with George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, and Meryl Streep.

3) We're stopping for refreshments before we go in to see the movie. What's your refreshment stand order?  Popcorn, as long as you’re buying!!  Otherwise, it’s just too expensive to purchase with any regularity.

4) When did you last consume an alcoholic beverage? What was it?  Last year - St. Patrick’s Day – a little bit of this and a little bit of that.

5) Are you jumpy? Do you startle easily? I am not usually jumpy at all, but sometimes, when I’m working and incredibly focused on something I lose awareness of my environment.  Often, someone has come into “my space” without me noticing.  Startled is an understatement when I spot them.  I have been known to jump and gasp out loud upon the realization someone is standing there.  My work husband, Jason, is pretty stealthy so has bore the brunt of my shock on more than one occasion.

6) Do you wear a watch? I wore a watch all the time until going away one spring break while I was in college.  A friend and I decided that being on a tropical island was a good excuse to be laid back and “time free”.  I spent the next several years being time free which is a bit ironic since I’m the opposite of laid back.  Instead of being time free, I just asked the people around my what time it was, all the time!  Finally, a year or so ago, I bought a new watch and now wear it every day.

7) When was the last time you tried a new restaurant?  About two weeks ago some friends and I went to lunch at a restaurant that is part of a nearby hotel.  It was very good.  I’d say, though, that every few months or so I try a new place.  Next week is Dine LA’s Restaurant Week, so we’re making plans for a visit or two to somewhere new.

8) What color is your wallet?  It’s black and white with the Coach logo.

9) How much does it have in coins right now?  Probably just a quarter or two.  I rarely have cash of any kind in my wallet due to using my credit card for as much as I can.

Happy Saturday!

  1. We all had to change our wallets when we moved to the €uro. Remember all the little crap you had in your wallet when you were in France, well that what we have now. So 'til very lately I had one of those Velcro ones like you see with the surfer doods.

That's a darn good idea to get in cash flow at the tailend of January with that restaurant week festival. It's a majorly lean month.

    1. The dollar/2dollar coins in Europe always give me a bit of difficulty when I travel because we don't really use them here. In the last couple of years they've made us a dollar coin, but the bill is still predominately used. I always forget to use those bigger coins that are kept with all the change. I'll come home with many dollars worth of coins.

    2. No you won't. Airports are designed to shake those last few bits of fruit from the tree.
But all in all those coins are grand, it's the 1c,2c,5c,10c,20c and 50c that are the problem. Hell you cannot even see the first two, not can you tell the difference between a 10 and a 20 or a 20 and a 50.

    3. With how much everything costs anymore, change is just about useless. You can't even buy a can of soda or bottle of water from a vending machine for less than a dollar.
We've got the 1, 5, 25, and 50 but the half dollars aren't even minted for circulation anymore. There has been talk of making the penny obsolete too, being that it costs 2x as much as it's worth.

    1. Ya I'm terribly adventurous when I eat. I like good food but am picky. The participating restaurants put out the choice menu for the fixed price a week or so before hand. We decide where to go based on that,

    1. Yes it is, and especially ones that would be too expensive to go to on a regular basis.

    1. Oh no! The wooden necklace crowd has retired?
It's funny how my phone has become part of my day in my classroom. Where just a year or so ago I'd have been mortified being "caught" with my phone. Now I carry it with me around the room answering emails while kids work and having a direct line to the principal for when one of my darlings melts down and has to be physically removed.
      Thrilled about the 3-day weekend!

  8. I appreciated your story about being startled, work is where it usually happens to me as well. I'm focused on my work or a phone call and I'm unaware that someone has entered my space.
Thanks for visiting my space... have a great weekend.

  12. I'd love to be able to try new restaurants more often! We rarely get new ones around here, though. The monotony concerning restaurants is more than likely what keeps us from going out and spending too much, though. It's easier and cheaper to cook at home.

    Great answers!
