And It’s Over!

After 2 weeks, 72 test booklets, and sharpening pencils 384 times, testing is finally OVER!
rapture

Look at all this paper!  Clearly, the success of America’s education rest solely on this mound of tests.

I have been so cranky sitting at my desk, twiddling my thumbs, calling out, “There’s not talking during the test!”  Now there are still four weeks left of school…what to do, what to do?  We’re going to finally have some fun!

Before I finally put this complaint to bed I just want to add…

I HATE TESTING!

  1. I don't get why they blame the teacher unions. It's like blaming the train driver for bumps in the track and the placement of the stations.
I was watching O Winfrey the other day and she had a group on that were doing their best to slate the profession.
Do you get to bring them on day trips now the 'zams are over. Or is that an insurance nightmare.

  5. Ditto.
Go do a play or something! We've been doing art, 3 Piggy Opera, math centers, PE *gasp*, learning about folktales...its been a grand old time! :)

  6. @Cheri - Ahhh, it's ok. :)

@Vince - Ohhhh, that episode about teachers was rough! I don't even watch Oprah, but when I heard about it, I recorded it and yelled at the TV, shaking me fist. It's sad really.

Field trips are not an insurance nightmare as far as I know, but it's a budget nightmare. We do have one trip in a couple of weeks to a teaching zoo, but that's all we are allowed. Most field trip venues are free or very inexpensive, but the buses to get there are another matter. Our families don't have the $$ to contribute so we just get one.

  7. @GJ - ha! we can both take those deep breaths.

@JLo - yes, the next four weeks include art, fairy tales, PE, and "Mr. Show" and I are doing our famous Jack and the Beanstalk play! Yay!

  8. I hope you r kids hold their pencils better than the kid on the Do Not Disturb sign....

HAVE SOME FUN...too bad so much is wasted on, "Fill in the circle to the sentence that would be the best title to this story."

  9. @M - no, they don't hold a pencil any better. They come in holding it that way due to academic preschool and it truly is one of the hardest habits to break. One year I set out on a mission to do the Handwriting Without Tears program with some of my kids with the worst printing. After 4 weeks I was the only one in tears...nothing could get them to hold their pencil correctly. But hey, they all know how to type and text!

We agree! Though I haven't been through it from your perspective.

  11. I hope your last four weeks are splendid! I can't believe you are going this late this year. It seems like last year you were out WAY earlier than us. Kaishon's last day is the 21st. He is none too happy about that.
