Are You Kidding Me?

Oh for frick sake!!!
I didn't get to watch The Bachelor last night. It's on way past my bedtime. This morning I woke up without a though about it, knowing that I'd watch it when I got home from work this evening. I found myself saying, "No, no, don't say it, I don't want to know what happened, I haven't watched it yet!" all day because everyone was abuzz about the events on The Bachelor. Of course they were, Chris Harrison, the host said it was going to be the most dramatic finale in the history of the Bachelor, even though, as Cortney reminded me he says that at every rose ceremony.

I got home from a board meeting this evening, later than usual. I still have about 150 pages of my bookclub book due for Thursday, but instead of reading I just HAD to watch this show. To make a long two hour episode short here's what happened in the episode in one run-on sentence. Melissa visited Jason's family, they liked her but didn't like that Jason hadn't met her parents yet, then he brought Molly home to the family and they loved her, so then Jason had one last night with Melissa, then with Molly, then Deanna came back and said she made a mistake and, without any drama at all, he basically told her to suck it and send her on her way, he found the ring, cried a little before and during the rose ceremony where he told Molly to hit the road since he was in love with another which was Melissa so he proposed to her, she said yes and then Jason, Melissa and Ty jumped in the pool together. What a big bunch of bologna that was! On the "After the Rose" show, the host, very seriously, again said that it was going to be a dramatic show. Jason came on the show looking very somber and proceeded to tell the host that things had changed between him and Melissa, he realized that the chemistry really wasn't there, and that he was still in love with Molly! Ya, what a crock, huh? Melissa called him a bastard and told him she never wanted to talk to him again.

Then the host brought out Molly who said she still thought about him every day and wished that he would change his mind. Well, guess what Molly, he did! He came back out and told her that he was still in love with her. She was, of course, shocked, but the emotion that concerned me more was that she was happy about it.

I really liked Jason in the last season and this season he was OK, kind of boring, but OK. After the last few episodes though, I want to kick his ass. Talk about commitment phobia. No wonder his wife left him! Plus I don't think I've never seen a man cry as much as this one does. I kept yelling, "Stop being such a baby!" at the TV. Of course, there's nothing wrong with a man crying but this one does it A LOT!

Happy Wife wrote an open letter to him, check it out. Whatever you do girls watch out for this one. I'm pretty desperate some times, but even I wouldn't touch him with a ten-foot pole! What a loser!

The Bachelor - 8 Episodes Down, 1 To Go

I know, I know! I must be a glutton for punishment, but I just can't help myself with trashy reality TV. This past week's episode was a reunion-like show that they do every time. After the bachelor (or bachelorette) narrows it down to his/her final two, they get all the rejected contestants together for a discussion about the season up to that point. Of course, I watched it, waiting for something exciting to happen. It didn't. Not much anyway, but the host did asked Jillian (my pick for Jason) if she'd be willing to be the next Bachelorette. She said she would. Maybe she'll find someone even better than that Jason.

The host said that the season finale (Monday) is "the most dramatic event in Bachelor history." Well that sounds exciting, doesn't it? I know you are all waiting with bated breath! Don't deny it.

I'm Quitting the Bachelor - Episode 7

This show makes me so mad. All I have to say is...He didn't pick Jillian! The editors of the show certainly made it seem like she was a shoe-in, but of course, they tricked me! So now I don't care anymore, but here's a rundown, short and sweet!

Fantasy dates. New Zealand. Jillian. Molly. Melissa. Jillian says she's into him, a lot. Molly says she loves him. Melissa says she loves him. Jason picks Molly and Melissa. Jillian cries and tells him she loves him. Jason cries. And still no Deanna! Stupid show!

Opinion Alert: My friend Cassandra's opinion actually: Jason wanted to pick Jillian but she was the only one who didn't say she loved him. My feeling is, wouldn't some guy rather pick a girl who had strong feelings but couldn't yet say she loved him after only a couple of weeks of knowing each other. In the real world most people need a little more time to say it. I think those other girls are crazy for saying it so soon and he's crazy for picking them. That's my two cents.

Next week isn't even the finale, but rather "The Bachelor Tells All" reunion show where all the women confront Jason and each other and they show flashbacks. You know I'll watch, but I'm not gonna like it!

The Bachelor - Episode 6

I'm getting a little tired writing these posts, but with only a couple episodes left, I don't feel I can stop. So here's the rundown, in a nut shell...

This week the four remaining bachelorettes took Jason home to meet their families.

First up was Jillian (the hot dog girl). Jillian and Jason met in for a glass of wine before heading to meet her family. Jillian told Jason that her mother had suffered from serious depression for several years, but was now doing well. Jason was happy that Jillian told him and felt that it explained why Jillian had not opened up as much as some of the other girls. He had a great hometown visit with Jillian's family. They liked Jason and Jason liked them. Yay!

Jason visited Molly next. They played golf before heading over to her parents' house wore they were funny hats and Jason drew a picture for Molly. Jason also seemed to like Molly's family a lot. Molly said that she would not date a man who her parents didn't like so there was some pressure on Jason, but the parents seemed to like him as well.

Jason's next visit was Naomi. Much to Naomi's horror this date included a bird funeral, hula hoops, and grilling Jason about his faith.

The last hometown date was Melissa. Before meeting her family, Jason and Melissa met up at a park and she tells Jason she has some bad news; her family doesn't want to be on camera so he will be meeting some friends of hers instead. Jason, Melissa, and her friends seemed to have a fun night, but Jason found out that only one of those friends had ever met Melissa's parents, and that was only one time. Jason thought that was a bit odd.

The rose ceremony was pretty low key. Jason gave roses to Molly, Jillian, and Melissa.

At the end of the show, Jason told the remaining women that they would be traveling to New Zealand for their fantasy dates. Opinion Alert: I still like Jillian best.

Finally, the previews showed that Deanna might be back in episode 7. I'm looking forward to some drama!

The Bachelor - Episode 4

Last week's episode started out with a singing contest for the girls. They had to write and sing their own song about and to Jason. The winner was Molly and she left with Jason for a one-on-one date back as Jason's "house". Jason gave her a rose and it ended up being an overnight date where Molly and Jason spent the night together in a tent just outside the house. With the tent zipped, making out noises were heard. The girls' house became frenzied when Molly returned the next morning wearing Jason's clothes.

Jillian, Lauren, Shannon, Megan, Melissa and Naomi join Jason for a group date on the set of General Hospital. They were each given a scene with Jason which included a kiss. It was really quite comical to see them act (which they really weren't so good at) and freak out that all the girls were going to kiss him. Opinion Alert: Hello...This is the Bachelor. When are the contestants going to understand that the bachelor is going to kiss them other women. At the end of the date Naomi received a rose.

Stephanie and Nikki waited at home feeling sorry for themselves since they were chosen to go on a double date with Jason. They knew that once on the date, only one of them would received a rose and stay on the show. The other one would be leaving the show. Jason danced with both of them, one at a time, and ate with them together. In the end, Stephanie got the rose and Nikki was sent packing. Opinion Alert: I liked Nikki, but she was very particular and organized which made it hard for her to open up to Jason.

At the rose ceremony, the 5 remaining women vied for 3 remaining roses...or so they thought. Jason gave a rose to Melissa and Jillian right off the bat. As he began to say the last name, he paused and told them he couldn't give out the final rose. He told them that he didn't want to lead any of them on because he didn't see a future with any of them. So Megan, Lauren, and Shannon were also sent home. Opinion Alert: Megan was the one who seemed to attract the drama, Shannon was quite stalkerish, and Lauren spent most of their group date bossing Jason around. I think he made a good decision.

There are 5 women remaining in the house - Jillian, Noemi, Molly, Melissa, and Stephanie. I think I still like Jillian the best, but that could just be the editing. We shall see what happens on the next episode on Monday night.

The Bachelor, Episode 3

Well, it was another uneventful "The Bachelor" this past week. I don't know if it's the 2 hour episode or if Jason, the bachelor, is just not that exciting anymore, but this season has been a bit ho-hum to me. But, there are a few things that need to be mentioned...

First, Stephanie got the first one-on-one date with Jason this week. She is the widowed mother of a little girl who she was missing a lot on her daughter's birthday the day of the date. Jason surprised her with her little girl joining them on their date to Lego Land. They seemed to hit it off; at least it was edited that way. She did get a rose at the end of the date so she gets to stay another week.

Later, Jason took a group of the ladies to make casts of their breasts for breast cancer awareness. After the casts were decorated they joined Jason for drinks. Opinion Alert: The group dates are always super catty and just annoy me. On the group date, Jillian (the hot dog girl) received a rose so she is also safe another week.

Jason's next one-on-one date was with Natalie who the rest of the bachelorettes didn't care for at all. It was a "dream" date as Jason arrived to pick her up with millions of dollars in jewelery. Of course the other girls were so jealous. Then he put her on a private jet and a helicopter to Vegas. They had a night on the town and Jason tried to get to know her better. When asking her to tell him about herself she said, "I'm a sporty girl who likes clothes." Surprisingly, Jason did not give her a rose and she was sent packing, that is after she had to return the jewelery. The rest of the house was thrilled. The cocktail party was next up. As the girls vied for Jason's attention, Jason was looking for some answers. Natalie left the show ranting and raving about the others and Jason wanted to get to the bottom of it. Right before the rose ceremony Chris Harrison, the host, confronted the girls for Jason. During the confrontation, Shannon ran off and threw up in the bathroom. Opinion Alert: After she got sick, Jason found Shannon and she hugged and kissed him...Ewwww!

At the rose ceremony, Jason chose to eliminate Erica, the arguer from last week, and Kari, who I don't even remember being on the show. Opinion Alert: I am so glad Erica is gone. She was a b-otch on the show.

There are 9 remaining bachelorettes. Molly, Lauren, Melissa, Naomi, Shannon, Nikki, Megan, Stephanie, and Jillian. Opinion Alert: At this point in the show, I think I like Jillian best. Yes, she is the hot dog girl, and that was a little kooky during the first episode, but she seems the most normal of the bunch. We shall see what happens during tonight's episode. I'm still waiting for Deanna to come back and cause more drama.

The Bachelor Recap

This past week's The Bachelor was kind of a "take it or leave it" episode. It was pretty mild; not a lot of drama. It was far from a train wreck like many of the episodes are, however there were a few moments that need to be pointed out and/or ridiculed.

First, Jason sent his son back to Seattle to spend time with his mom. Opinion Alert! There were mixed reviews about his child being in the midst of this crazy show, but I was glad that he was sent back. The show is funny and trashy, for adults, but it's not appropriate for kids.

The 15 ladies chosen by Jason during the season premiere moved into their mansion and were told that there would be some group dates and some one-on-one dates, and even more shocking was that not everyone would be chosen to go on a date. "Gasp!" That is a Bachelor first.

After they got settled in the mansion, Jason showed up unexpectedly for a pool party. The party must have been uneventful as I don't remember much except for Jason taking off his shirt.

Jason surprisingly had to give out a rose at the pool party and chose Jillian (the hot dog lady). He whisked her away on a one-on-date, much to the chagrin of the others. He took her to the Disney Concert Hall where they had champagne and goodies and then Robin Thicke put on a private concert for them. Opinion Alert! I would be so uncomfortable at a private concert, both as the audience and as the performer. Wouldn't that be awkward?

Later Jason took Melissa (the Cowboys cheerleader) on a one-on-one date, and then a group date with all but two (Raquel and Megan) of the remaining girls. After dropping the ladies off at home, Raquel snuck into Jason's car to get some time with him. Jason is visibly shocked by this overt display.

At the cocktail party, the women fell all over themselves vying for Jason's attention. Before the night really got going, Lisa bowed out of the running because her grandmother was very ill and she decided she needed to be home. After he says goodbye, Jason went back to mingling with the women. Opinion Alert! Jason has the worst "I'm pretending to be interested but you're freaking the heck out of me," look on his face. It's a strange smile, but kind of fake and creepy. Watch for it next time.

Megan (the girl who got the most votes to leave and was given a rose instead) was part of a conflict again this week. This time it was with Erica. However, this time I felt bad for Megan, as it didn't seem to be entirely her fault. After Molly, who already received a rose on one of the dates, "stole" Jason away from Megan, Megan told a group of girls, including Erica, what had happened. There was a discussion about if a girl who already has a rose should monopolize Jason and the consensus of the group was that they shouldn't. Erica told the group that she wouldn't do that. Later, Erica was in the kitchen with Molly and Megan overheard her tell Molly about the conversation and completely changing her story, making the other girls look bad. Megan privately confronted Erica and Erica freaked out. Opinion Alert! I think Erica was embarrassed for being called out and turned it around on Megan. I wonder if she will look back after watching the episode and say, "Hmm, I guess I am two-faced."

Anyhow, after the rose ceremony, two were sent home without a rose - Sharon, who quit her teaching job to be on the show and Raquel, the Brazilian who got in Jason's limo at the end of the night. I told you, that creeped him out!

I'm not really sure if I have a favorite yet. There are so many of them at this point, that I can't keep them all straight. Maybe next week one or two will stand out. Do you have an opinion of who you like best?

The Bachelor

I thought this past week's The Bachelor episode was not meant to be. I record EVERYTHING that I watch these days because I hate watching commercials. That often means however that I don't watch the shows on the days they were originally recorded; usually a day or so later. So Tuesday morning (that's right, still on vacation) I got snuggled into bed to watch my Bachelor and low and behold it was not on my list of recorded TV shows. "What?!?!" I gasped. I checked a couple of times and it had been set to record on the DVR, but somehow my DVR failed me! I panicked for a minute and then quickly checked to see if I could find the episode online. Phew, it was there and I was able to get my Bachelor fix for the week.

The first 20 minutes or so was spent reminding us how Jason, the bachelor, had been "rejected" by Deanna last year and how glad he was to have been on that show because now he knows he can love again, blah, blah, blah. We were also subjected to watching the 25 girls share why they are perfect for Jason. Another good reason to record these shows - fast forward through the dumb parts.

Something I found odd, but then again maybe not so odd was that Jason brought his son Ty with him to Los Angeles. I'm not a parent so I'm not sure if it is better to be with your child and subject them to the craziness that is The Bachelor, or not have them be part of the show, but have to leave them for a several weeks. I can see why he wanted to bring his son, but it's still a little odd.

Finally, Jason was introduced to the 25 women one at a time. One at a time the women stepped out of the screaming limos to meet "the man of their dreams". Some were nervous, some were cool, and some were just silly. As it turns out four of the women are single moms.

Then the cattiness, I mean cocktail party began. This is the 2nd most "train wrecky" part. The girls fought for time with Jason and when they weren't with him, they were bad mouthing whoever he was with. One girl had memorized his MySpace page but promised she wasn't a stalker, one girl said she quit her job to be on the show to meet him, and one read him a poem she had written. Another had Jason make a hot dog in front of her so she could size him up, another share that she created vision boards and those visions usually came true, while two others danced salsa with him.

The host, Chris Harrison, joined in the fun by announcing there would be a vote. Each girl would choose the person who they most wanted to see leave. That sent everyone into a tailspin. While the women debated who they would vote for, Jason gave out his first-impression rose to 29 year old Nikki.

After the vote, Chris announced that single mom Megan had the most votes. She was shocked and the others were all smiles. However, Chris shared with the group that Megan wasn't leaving empty handed, she was leaving with a rose. That pissed a lot of girls off and even though Megan was saved, she called the girls "f---ing b--ches"(Happy Wife had to fill me in on what she said cuz I couldn't understand over the bleeping.) I wonder if that rubbed Jason the wrong way.

Jason handed out 13 more roses to the women he wanted to remain in the house which sent 10 women home.

After the rose ceremony is the most "train wrecky" part on the show. Most of the women were fine with it, mostly just embarrassed to be chosen to go right off the bat, but there are always a couple who fall completely apart...over the guy they met like an hour before. This time it was Jackie, the wedding planner, who told us that she had already planned her wedding to Jason ten times. Wow, I bet he regrets that decision!

My favorite part of the show is the previews for the following episode. It seems things get very heated this season and the claws come out with bitch slapping and everything! Plus, it appears that Deanna will return and wants Jason to give her another chance. I know, are you just dying? Tune in Monday night to see episode 2 of The Bachelor.

The Bachelor

DON'T FORGET TO VOTE --->
The new season of The Bachelor begins tomorrow evening. Yay! I know, I know, it's reality trash, but I am a reality TV fiend, and this is one of my favorites. I do prefer The Bachelorette since I'd rather watch a house full of men do manly things rather than a house full of women do catty, bitchy things, but that's neither here nor there, The Bachelor is better than nothing.

This season's bachelor is Jason. Maybe he looks familiar to you. That is because he isn't a newcomer on The Bachelor/Bachelorette series.



You may recall that on the last Bachelorette, Jason made it to the final two. The previously rejected Deanna had been chosen to be the new bachelorette and she promised not to lead anyone on or break anyone's heart. She narrowed it down to the free-spirited Jesse and the straight-laced, single dad Jason.Well, she broke Jason's heart. As he knelt to propose to her, she pulled him back up and said she couldn't marry him. You could hear a gasp around the country.

Instead she wanted to be with Jesse. He proposed and she said yes.

From what I've heard, they aren't even together anymore...anyone surprised? It made for good reality TV though.
